BOMBING THE FAIR. Milan 1928 (Murcia 2009) and video story on the advent of the fascist dictatorship and the transformation of the state.
On April 12, 1928 in the crowd waiting Vittorio Emanuele III on a visit to Milan to inaugurate Fair explodes a bomb, twenty dead and forty wounded, the tragic account of the attack. For fifteen years the number of police will investigate, without result. Around the investigation moves an underworld of spies, informers and traitors, men of the State and ambiguous anti-fascists, fascists, extremists and corrupt hierarchy. The slaughter results in a long series of arrests and brutality, featuring one of the darker sides of fascist power. But it will also show unexpected spaces of independence and courage of investigation, of generosity and moral rectitude. Through a long and painstaking archival research and painstaking reconstruction of events, the author Charles Giacchino tells the story of the protagonists of the various surveys and doing light on an event still shrouded in mystery.
During the presentation, the author will explain the sources of the volume, and the reissue of "1930. Background of a drama," Bianca Ceva (Pontegobbo Editions, 2010), a major source for the reconstruction of human and policy Umberto Ceva, unjustly accused of being responsible for the massacre of a Milan, and the central chapter of the book "Attack the Fair"
The presentation will be preceded by a videoracconto on the advent of fascism and the transformation into dictatorship after the attacks of the period 1926-28. It will be screened unpublished material drawn from archives still little investigated by historians.
